Is it just me, or does this sound like they're completely retconning Conviction?

Season 10, Episode 15
March 10, 2009
Pediatrician Gilbert Keppler is found guilty of sexually assaulting four of his male patients. Soon after his trial, his attorney Lionel Granger informs the detectives that Keppler will be suing the NYPD and the Denslow Medical Center on the grounds that they knew he was sexually abusing patients long before they took any action to stop him. Detectives Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson decide to go directly to Keppler for questioning only to find him murdered in his apartment. To the detectives' surprise, ADA Alexandra Cabot shows up at the crime scene, after three years in the witness protection program. The SVU team must put the past and lost time behind them in order to solve the case.
Did she just. . . forget to call Olivia when she came back to be bureau chief? I know a lot of people that will be very happy if they retcon all the character butchering they did to Alex during Conviction, but are they seriously just going to pretend the series never happened? Normally, I would assume that they'd just ignore the massive character shift and hope nobody notices in the midst of all the other inconsistent writing (chances aren't bad), but since they moved the other two female lawyers to other L&O franchises under different names without batting an eye, I'm really wondering if they're going to officially wipe it from Law and Order canon.
And moreWINTASTIC generic comments from an interview last week.
From AfterEllen.com First, when asked whether Alex Cabot is returning in a relationship or not, she said, "She’s on the prowl. She’s not tied to too many people."
On whether she's going to be prowling strictly for men, March replied, "I think we haven’t determined all of it yet. I think some of it’s still a mystery."
Finally, when asked whether Alex and Olivia are in love and just not realizing it yet, March answered, "I’m not saying we’re not...I’m not saying we’re not in love."
Of course, this still means nothing's going to happen. But it seems to strongly suggest that they'll throw us a couple of tidbits along the way, which is enough to make any femslash shipper happy because it's far more than she's used to getting.
