The only thing I liked about the later episodes was that Gabrielle seemed stronger and more independent, less of the innocent girly girl...it also changed the subtext relationship a bit.
Yeah, early on sometimes it's a little too "Oh, look, there are some bad guys on the horizon. Stay back, Gabrielle, I must protect your virtue!" Though the stories were better earlier, I prefer their relationship when they're more equal, honestly.

Nah, just. . . odd. I've got no idea why I started using either, but 'bloody' has been around for a while and 'mate' is a rather new (only this year, really) addition to my vocab. I've a penchant for odd words.
